Our Zoo Trip!

I wanted to share a few photos of our trip to the zoo yesterday. It was a beautiful day that God gave us to enjoy His creations. As some of you may already know, I "hate" the zoo. I am not a big animal person and see no need to walk around and see animals chew their food, throw water from their trunks, and worst of all....the reptile house! With these thoughts in mind, I took my three precious boys to the zoo. Steven and I have been studying God's Plan for different areas of our lives and the world we live in. This week it has been God's Plan for the animals. I was needing to get a few field trips in so I decided I would suck it up and go to the zoo. We had a wonderful time playing at the park before the zoo opened. Hope you enjoy the pictures! The boys had a great time looking at the different animal that were exhibited. When we got to the reptile house, Steven was asking me to go in with them. My answer was NO! I told him if he wanted to go in, I would wait for him at the excit. He decided we could come back later. Whew!!! Got out of it! As we passed the excit, a lady came running out saying, "Where is a zoo keeper? There is a snake loose in their!" Once again the confirmation why I say NO to Reptile Houses! Steven and Carson were able to go in later and survived! It was a great morning and Peyton also enjoyed himself very much. I guess I'll have to try it again some time soon.
Today was a very busy day with Steven's school. We are getting very close to being finished with the school year! Thank the Lord! He has helped us so very much! After a few hours of school, my sitter came to watch the boys while I went to work for a meeting. It was very nice because it was finished early and Larry and I were able to go to Olive Garden for soup and salad! Wonderful! We take advantage of every opportunity we get to have a meal without the boys! It is very important for us as a couple. It was very nice. We were almost finished with our meal, when our sitter called saying that Steven had accidentaly hit Carson across the mouth with a metal baseball bat. She wasn't sure if it needed stitches because it did look like the tooth had come all the way through the lip. Needless to say, it was a quick trip home. After assessing the situation, I called the pediatrician who advised me to put a ice on it and keep it clean and see if it will heal on its own. How does one keep the face of a four year old boy clean? I think he is doing better seeing that he spent most of the afternoon and evening out playing with friends in the yard, street, neighbors yard, down the hill, up the street,....you get the picture! I'm glad I got some cute pictures of him at the zoo yesterday before the accident.
I also went this evening with my wonderful neighbor, Pat, to pick strawberries! Thought of you Kimber! I am planning on making some freezer jam tomorrow. The Lord willing I'll get everything done that is on my schedule for tomorrow. We have 2 birthday parties we also are planning to attend. Busy day ahead....but should prove to be very fun!
Ok, not having much luck with the pictures here, so scroll down for more!

It's been interesting laying side ways to look at the beautiful pictures of your boys. :)

Isn't it our luck that the ones that grew up without brothers are the ones who get all the boys. Oh well, trips to the zoo, camping, and fishing hold a whole new appeal for me. Don't worry about the scar. We've been to the hospital for stitches five times. It just adds to their masculine appeal.

Hi Marty.. neat to see you on here. You have such a beautiful family. I also have 3 boys now so I can understand the rough-housing. My 2 oldest have already had stitches too!

One thing I realized...it seems nearly all my friends from HSBC have ended up having loads of boys. Suppose it was something in the water?!

Hey Marty,

Thank you for being the first to comment on my blog:) It's so fun reconnecting with everyone. My kids have been begging me to take them to the zoo. I wish you lived closer so we could take them together!

Hey Marty,

Are ya'll planning to go to P.C. Camp this year? I've talked with Charity about getting together with everyone if we're able to go. We should know in the next couple of weeks whether we'll take our vacation time then or not. Just wondering if you would be there!

Marty;

Eww, there was a snake loose in reptile house??? A word of advice to you and Kayla who were raised virtually boy-less. NEVER tell them you are afraid of any insect, reptile or otherwise. I promise, it WILL come back to haunt you if you do. The other day we were at a friends house our boys were all outside playing (She has 3 boys) all of the sudden the door opens and in walks one with this horribly large (for Illinois) lizard. The week before they caught a snake and were petting it. I always calmly say, "Wow, that's neat, but remember if those come in the house they would die(and trust me they would) so you better keep him outside. It is no fun to chase a woman with a snake if you don't get a response this is BOY 101.

Marty,

Thanks for your comment on my blog.
How is Susan doing? Strangely enough I had a dream about her the other night. It must be from all this blogging and reconnecting.

YOU PHILISTINE! HOW CAN YOU HATE THE ZOO?! I DON'T EVEN HAVE CHILDREN AND HAVE A YEAR MEMBERSHIP! OK, sorry. I just had to get that off my chest. As a died in the wool lover of all things zoo-like, I was just moved past all saneness. I applaud you for getting out of your comfort zone. :)

Great pics of the zoo. I like to take my kids to the zoo...ONLY FOR THEIR SAKES! FOR, I'm NOT an animal lover either..but it is good family time! =) We'd like to visit the Colombian zoo sometime. Glad for the time for you and Larry to have a nice date...but SORRY THAT ENDED WITH A TOOTH COMING THROUGH A LIP! UGH! That sounds painful! I hope he's better now!
Love ya, Heather

Hi, Martha. It's great to find your blog - I love it! And yes, how is it that we from the girly families get all these boys! Sometimes I'm just at a loss with my 3. Why is it fun to RUN through the house after your brother with a stick as if you're going to impale him at any moment? WHY is it fun to holler as if you're shot over a missed baseball play on the GameCube? why? oh well...so is the life and many more situations I could add. Marc just says "They're boys, Melodie" as if that magically explains it all...smiles...I'm so very blessed and content that God gave me 3 boys. Now if I can just raise them to please Him and be good husbands and fathers one of these days, then I will have been successful. In the meantime, "boys, stop climbing the bars on the outside of the house!" That's not a joke!

Love,
Melodie
